The Oslo part of the FUGE Bioinformatics platform

Titan

Fuge owns 4 dual cpu nodes in the new computational cluster in UiO called Titan. This cluster consist of 171 dual cpu nodes, and are a collaboration between different research groups all over the University of Oslo (and others). Spare cycles on this cluster are available to all participants, making it possible to run large computations without extra cost.

The FUGE are configured like this:

  • Memory - 2 Gbytes
  • CPU - Dual 1.33GHz PowerPC G4
  • Disk - Two 60GBytes IDE drives

Biofarm

The University of Oslo Biofarm currently consists of 6 dual Apple Xserve. 4 of the nodes has been donated by Apple, while 2 has been purchased by the Radium Hospital.

The nodes are beeing set up as regular BSD/Linux compute servers, having the common set of compilers and development environment installed.

The nodes are configured like this:

  • Memory - 2 Gbytes
  • CPU - Intel Xeon, 3.4 GHz
  • Disk - Two 70GBytes of local disk, GPFS disks 4.5 Tb
